Frank and Lois–A Forever Love Story

Dara LevanBlog, Every Soul Has A Story2 Comments

Empty cardboard boxes and crumpled newspapers littered the floor. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering why the heck we moved. I shook my head with agitation as I sifted through junk mail. Then I heard an unfamiliar voice. I glanced toward the end of our brown, peeling driveway. Two twinkling eyes beckoned mine. Before we formally met, I sensed such depth and content from this soul. He approached me with a kind smile and outstretched hands. “Hi there! I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Frank. Welcome to the neighborhood.” He then handed me a bottle of champagne. I was flabbergasted … Read More

Thank You From My Heart to Yours!

Dara LevanBlog2 Comments

On August 2, 2017 I launched Every Soul Has a Story. What began as a simple blog has morphed into a movement of connection and engagement. Today I want to thank each of you for your readership and more. I committed to myself that I’d write and post weekly. I honestly did not know if I could fulfill this promise! Friday marked the two year blogiversary! With each passing week, my fear of being vulnerable has shrunk, and my courage has expanded. I’ve wanted to be a writer/author since I could speak, which was quite young! I became a speech … Read More

A Heart Throb, Teens, and Advil! (Please Have Mercy on ME!)

Dara LevanBlogLeave a Comment

Freshly washed, shiny, and flat ironed hair swooshed past us. After a few outfit changes, a bit of lip gloss, and a quick dinner, my daughter yelled across the house, “Hurry up please–I don’t want to be late.” In response, I swallowed three Advil along with waves of nausea. She’d been waiting to see Shawn Mendes for more than a year. Zoe loves to sing and has recently taught herself how to play the guitar. We’ve all heard her belting Shawn songs from upstairs. Zoe’s excitement emanated from her; she would finally attend her teen heart throb’s concert!  I wondered … Read More

A Whale of an Excursion

The water sparkled as the sun beamed brightly in a cloudless sky. As we pulled into the parking spot, we saw a few boats but no apparent captain. I opened the door, and then heard “Hey there! I’m Darren. Are you ready?” A tall, lanky man gestured toward his boat.       I turned around and shook a strong, outstretched hand. Zoe looked up as she shivered. “I don’t mean to be all salesy, but it will be brisk as we get further into the sea. I have sweatshirts you can buy,” Darren said as he glanced at Zoe. Oh … Read More

I’m back! Thank you for joining me at Every Soul Has A Story! You can read this week’s blog here on my Facebook page. You can SUBSCRIBE on my website (EVERYSOULHASASTORY.COM) to receive weekly blogs and messages as well. ? Cracked shells crunched beneath my feet. I approached it apprehensively but with resolute determination. I promised myself that every year since I turned 40, I would tackle one physical thing that scared the hell out of me. Today was the day to conquer a lifetime, immobilizing activity.      The shiny metal had seemed menacing in the … Read More

What Are Your Anchors? Part III: Integrity

Dara LevanBlogLeave a Comment

I shared about my first two anchors, connection ?( https://daralevan.com/what-are-your-anchors/  ) and acceptance? (https://daralevan.com/what-are-your-anchors-part-ii-acceptance/ ) and today is the third entry in this series. I also hope you read and connected with Eli’s Story ?( https://daralevan.com/elis-story-connection-acceptance-and-living-her-truth/ ), which was published during Pride Month. My third and lifetime anchor is integrity. Anchors hold me steady when my world gets rocked. They ensure that no matter what happens to or around me, I will be ok. I will persevere. And I will not only survive, but I will learn, grow, and thrive. For me, integrity is everything. It is a driving force in every choice, decision, and … Read More

Eli’s Story: Connection, Acceptance, and Living Her Truth

Dara LevanBlog, Every Soul Has A StoryLeave a Comment

A few weeks ago, I introduced the concept of anchors. The first anchor about which I wrote was connection and the second acceptance. Today’s post was originally going to be the final entry in this three-part series. As I often share, life unfolds like an emerging lotus flower. So I pivoted and that piece will be published next week. I sat at our kitchen table with Alec and my husband. Zoe excitedly exclaimed, “Mommy! I am so happy for someone; I just saw a post on Instagram. Can I tell you about it?” “Of course sweetie,” I replied with curiosity … Read More

What Are Your Anchors Part II–ACCEPTANCE

Dara LevanBlog4 Comments

As I write, the wind is roaring and rain pellets are pounding the pavement. Today’s wet, wild weather is a timely setting for this three-part Every Soul Has A Story series about anchors. I introduced this topic last week when I shared about my first anchor, which is connection.  Anchors are invisible yet grounding and stabilizing. Anchors strengthen our resilience just when we may collapse, like the trees that are bending but not breaking during these Florida summer storms. My second of three anchors is acceptance. I could simplify this concept and end right here with “it is what it … Read More

What Are Your Anchors?

Dara LevanBlogLeave a Comment

We cannot control or change what transpires around us. We can, however, choose how we respond to our external environment. Does this sound cliche and like a freshman intro to psychology course? I certainly hope not because I’ve “been there and done that!” Today I want to share something I learned recently. It’s personal for me; and I am again feeling vulnerable by publishing it. But I sense it may resonate with and hopefully help you navigate life’s curveballs. And my heart-centered intention with Every Soul Has A Story is to connect souls globally. This will be the first entry … Read More

Happy Birthday

Dara LevanBlogLeave a Comment

Kind cards, thoughtful texts, phone calls, and unexpected gifts hugged my heart this week. Grateful is a word that barely describes my feelings as I write today’s blog. I live in and with daily gratitude. However, during milestones and celebrations, I seem to be more keenly aware and appreciative of my friends and family. As I wrote in last year’s post, “This Is 44,” I prefer being the giver rather than the receiver. I absolutely love hosting and throwing parties for others! But to celebrate my own birthday has always felt weird and uncomfortable. To be honest, I usually blush … Read More
