What do you wrap yourself up in?

Why my grandmother’s shawl inspired today’s SOUL STORY video.

Sometimes when I process emotions - I was tweaking a few tough, tender scenes - I get cold. Freezing. I don't know why that happens. And I had a nudge to grab something that I've never worn.

This was my grandmother's - actually my husband's grandmother - who was like a mother to me. I miss her every day. She lived to be 98, and I am so grateful she was in my life and at such a deep, impactful level. This is her shawl—I am blessed to have it.

I've never worn it. I look at it. I touch it. But it has really, to be honest, sat in my closet for several years since she's been gone.

I'm here at my desk, scribbling, revising, caffeinating. The luxurious life of a writer - just kidding I haven't even brushed my hair today! But I wrapped myself in her pashmina, a hug of nostalgia.

Warmth spread through my heart and to the rest of my being. I know it somehow came from my grandma, her presence and love. And I wanted to share that moment with you in today’s #soulstory video.

What do you wrap yourself up in? An item from a loved one? Or do you cocoon yourself with words, nature, or something else?

Reach out to me and let me know.

From my heart to yours.
