How do you make lemonade from lemons?
Another spontaneous moment. Another spontaneous sharing. That is what my weekly (bi-weekly this week!) Soul Stories are about.
And I'm trying to take a lemon and make lemonade. But I must tell you this one is a toughie! Because it involves someone else and someone else's time, kindness and graciousness. Today’s podcast guest @RobertGwaltneyjr is such a kind human being.
We had an incredibly authentic, vulnerable, honest conversation just now on Every Soul Has a Story Live on Instagram - and it's gone. I cannot find it. It is somewhere. Poof into cyberspace. I have spoken to people who are far better at technology than I am. This is not my jam. And it's gone.
I felt so badly, nearly in tears. Doing all of this troubleshooting. And I finally texted Robert. He wrote to me as I was spinning in this funnel of disappointment—he has a full time job, just released his debut novel—and he texted me back, "Maybe our conversation was just supposed to be ephemera because it was just so lovely."
How beautiful is that? How kind. How true.
Ironically, I'm remembering that part of our conversation included talking about how things unfold just the way that they are supposed to. We chatted about him releasing his first novel in mid life. I said to Robert, "How amazing is it that we all in life think that there’s a beginning, middle and an end - whether in a book or in our own life's chapters."
And I'm a huge believer in silver linings. That is what I write about. That's how I live, in my personal life, in my professional life, in every area of life.
So, Robert, I want to honor you and your time today. And for your graciousness. To our listeners, we will jump on again soon and rerecord our conversation.
I wanted to share with you that you can't always plan everything and sometimes you just have to pivot.
When is the most recent time where something didn't work out the way you wanted it to? How did you handle it? What did you do? Did you flip the script?
